In 2007 and 2008, Glasson Hotel and Golf Club hosted a European Challenge Tour event, the Challenge of Ireland Presented by Glasson. The Challenge Tour is the developmental tour for The European Tour and many of the game's greats got their start on the Challenge Tour. Andrew Tampion won in 2008 and Magnus Carlsson won in 2007.
To win the 2008 event, Tampion shot 67 in the final round on Glasson's Christy O'Connor Jnr., golf course.
